Wellness at home

A home affects how you feel more reliably than most things bought in the name of wellness. Light, scent, order and texture do quiet work, and none of them require a routine to maintain.

These notes cover the practical side of a restorative home: warm light in the evening rather than overhead brightness, scent used to mark the end of the day, and enough order that a room does not ask anything of you when you walk into it. We are deliberately sceptical about claims that cannot be felt — the focus is on small, repeatable changes to a space that make it easier to rest in.
